Prepping your Winter Car Kit

Emergency Car Kit

Being prepared for a disaster is an essential part of being a vehicle owner. To help keep you safe during extreme conditions, such as severe winter weather, it is a great idea to keep an emergency kit in your car.

Various items can be useful in the winter months if you experience an accident or other unfortunate situation related to severe winter weather. At Freedom Collision Center, we’ve put together a list of what you can include in your emergency winter car kit.

Useful Items for Your Winter Car Kit

The easiest way to start putting your winter car kit together is to gather some non-perishable items like canned goods or snacks as well as bottled water. Be sure to pack enough food and water for the number of people you have in your vehicle.
We also recommend that you include tools such as:

  • Pocket knife
  • Multipurpose utility tool
  • Bag of cat litter (to help with traction)
  • LED Flashlight with spare batteries
  • Ice scraper
  • Small foldable shovel

You will also want to include extra gloves, hats, and a few emergency blankets or a sizeable warm blanket. If you already have a first aid kit in your car, be sure that it is stocked. Take the time to look at what you already have in your vehicle and see what items you need to add to keep your vehicle safe during the winter.
